Lee Betancourt

Senior Vice President, Business Transformation

Edelman

Lee partners with clients on business transformation, issues management and reputation recovery endeavors, helping them to build stronger connections with key stakeholders during times of significant business change. Her portfolio includes M&A integrations and culture shifts, CEO transitions, DEI program roll-outs, corporate narrative building and providing counsel on communicating large-scale leadership or organizational change moments. Her background in issues management allows her to advise companies through various challenges and help them anticipate scenarios as they embark on transformational efforts. To date, much of Lee’s work focuses on incorporating strong employee engagement into organizational culture and ensuring companies are effectively communicating with their internal and external audiences about their unique value proposition.

Prior to Edelman, Lee worked at another large communications firm, where she focused on crisis and litigation communications, issues management and reputation recovery for clients including IKEA, Yum! Brands, Grubhub and Allergan’s BOTOX product. Her work included crisis preparation efforts, such as playbooks, workshops, media trainings and simulations for global organizations. In the issues space, she guided clients through stakeholder mapping and scenario planning exercises. She also helped take clients past their acute crises, advising on next steps they should pursue to repair their reputations with key audiences and ensuring they had the stakeholder connections and narratives needed to do so.

Lee previously worked as senior director of communications at the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), a global trade association for in-house lawyers. As a result, she has experience working with media in more than 25 countries, leading brand and reputation management on a global scale, and curating the digital presence for an organization addressing and engaging multiple stakeholder groups. Throughout her time at ACC, she worked closely with general counsel on issues affecting the practice of corporate law worldwide, including offering media spokesperson training for chief legal officers and their deputies.

She is a summa cum laude graduate of Villanova University.
