Emily Collins is a lawyer who has been solving eDiscovery and information governance problems for over 17 years. Having worked as outside counsel, in-house counsel, and a consultant in the service provider space, Emily has a uniquely well-rounded view of the world of eDiscovery, enabling her to understand the perspectives of all stakeholders in a particular project or issue. Emily’s professional passion is for solving the riddles and puzzles put forth daily by this rapidly evolving field and collaborating with fellow eDiscovery practitioners to find the unique answer to each. She also enjoys speaking and writing about these war stories. Emily received my law degree from Indiana University's Maurer School of Law. Prior to that, she studied history, political science, and Russian language, graduating summa cum laude from Indiana University. When she’s not working, Emily can be found horseback riding with her younger daughter, chauffeuring her older daughter to and from dance lessons, hiking and spending time outdoors with the family, or hiding with the cat and a good book.

I have nearly 20 years of experience in the field of information governance, AI, privacy, and data security. Currently, I serve as the Director of Information Governance & Business Intake at Robinson & Cole LLP, an AmLaw200 law firm. Additionally, I am the Chair on the ARMA International Board of Directors, a certified information governance professional (IGP) and officer (CIGO). 

In my spare time, I host an innovative podcast, InfoGov Hot Seat, which now boasts over 6k YouTube subscribers and 100k views. In each episode, I engage in candid conversations with practitioners, consultants, and solution providers on hot topics in the information governance field. Our discussions provide valuable insights and practical advice on managing information assets while navigating legal and regulatory challenges.

My experience as a practitioner, consultant, and solution provider within the information governance industry allows me to provide a unique perspective on numerous emerging industry trends. My work includes the deployment of enterprise programs, policy development and enforcement, creation of disposition programs, and technology solution evaluation. I have published numerous articles, frequently speak on information governance and artificial intelligence trends, and provide consulting services to law firms and Fortune 500 companies.

Marla Crawford brings over 30 years’ expertise to her role as general counsel of Cimplifi. She is a respected attorney, strategic advisor, and thought leader who speaks regularly on legal technology, electronic discovery, and information governance issues. Marla spent 22 years practicing law at the prestigious international firm, Jones Day, specializing in the discovery phase of litigation.   She also served as associate general counsel for Goldman Sachs for 11 years where she led the firm’s global eDiscovery practice and focused on complex commercial and securities litigation and regulatory investigations. Marla’s expertise also includes advising on issues relating to information governance as well as the deployment of new technologies. Marla earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Duke University, graduated magna cum laude from Boston University School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor, and is licensed to practice law in the state of New York.

Julie Heller is a former Vice President in the AIG Office of the General Counsel’s Global Legal Operations group and head of Legal Knowledge Management & Information Governance. She is a Certified Information Governance Officer and co-chair of the ACC Legal Operations eDiscovery & Information Governance interest group.  She focuses on developing and implementing cross-functional strategy and best practices for information lifecycle management, content management, taxonomy development and classification, legal hold, records retention, data preservation and legacy data disposition processes.   Julie joined AIG in 2012 and was initially responsible for building and leading the eDiscovery advisory and vendor management program.  She served as the President of AIG’s New York Region Women & Allies Employee Resource Group and is a frequent speaker on information governance and diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.  

Julie has more than 25 years of eDiscovery, information management, legal technology and project management experience.  She previously worked at Epiq as well as Baker Hostetler LLP, Proskauer Rose LLP, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and White & Case LLP in a variety of eDiscovery project management and legal technology management roles.  She holds a B.A. from Yale University and an M.S. from Columbia University. Before embarking on a career in legal technology and operations, Julie worked as a clinical social worker providing therapy and supportive services to individuals and groups in Connecticut and New York City.
