Jian ZHANG is a seasoned China-licensed lawyer. He is the partner leading Pamir Law Group’s China practice based in the firm’s Shanghai office. With extensive experience in corporate legal matters, he plays a pivotal role in advising and assisting clients on a wide range of issues, including strategic advisory, smooth and efficient operations balancing compliance and regulatory matters, transactions such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), as well as a full range of China inbound and outbound business matters.

Jian’s expertise also extends to commercial litigation and arbitration, where he represents clients in complex disputes, ensuring that their interests are rigorously defended and upheld.

Jian’s educational background is a blend of Chinese and western institutions. He earned his law degree (Bachelor on Commercial Law in 1997) from East China University of Politics and Law, where he developed a strong foundation in Chinese legal principles. He furthered his studies with an LL.M from the University of Nottingham (in 2002), enhancing his knowledge of international law and deepening his skills to help clients navigate cross-border legal challenges.

Fluent in both English and Chinese, he is adept at bridging cultural and linguistic gaps in his practice, making him an invaluable asset for international clients operating in China.

Outside of his legal career, Jian is an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying basketball and table tennis. He also loves hiking, which offers him a refreshing break from the demands of his professional life.
