Step into the future of law and business with a clear, plain-English introduction to the technology driving the AI revolution. This session will demystify how AI systems work, examine the tools clients and colleagues are already adopting, and address the technical risks inherent in their use. We’ll begin with a walkthrough of AI’s evolution to understand how past developments shape today’s legal and technical challenges. Next, we’ll “look under the hood” of a Generative AI system down to its core components to learn how they work together to produce intelligent outputs. Finally, we’ll apply this understanding to legal ethics , exploring how AI intersects with our duties of competence, diligence, and supervision. This session will empower lawyers to engage confidently with AI tools while staying grounded in the core values of the profession.
