While Taren Butcher is proud of her trajectory as an attorney from an associate at city law firms to a general counsel, she is most proud of her recent work leading the Association of Corporate Counsel, Baltimore Chapter and making history as its first Black, female president.“Serving as leader of the organization was a significant time commitment, but I’m extremely proud of the new initiatives we launched during my year, including launching a LinkedIn page for the Chapter … and hosting/leading our first overnight board retreat in 5+ years,” she wrote.Butcher, who is deputy general counsel of MarketSource, Inc., an Allegis Group, Inc., company, in Hanover, said that her service for eight years on the Anne Arundel County Judicial Nominating Committee had the most impact on her community at large, helping to present the best candidates to the governor for appointment.Butcher earned her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2007. She earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in Spanish from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2004.She previously worked as deputy general counsel for Aston Carter, Inc., also an Allegis company.Earlier in her career, Butcher worked as an associate at Tydings and Rosenberg, Thompson Hine, LLP and Venable, LLP.
