This interactive workshop led by Stewart Hirsch moves beyond recognizing implicit bias to developing practical strategies—together. After a brief exploration of how bias can show up in workplace interactions and decisions, participants will work through real-world scenarios in small groups, drawing on one another’s experiences to develop practical strategies they can adapt for themselves to navigate conversations, influence decisions, enlist allies, and respond to bias in ways that are authentic, constructive, and effective.

Stewart Hirsch has provided leadership and executive coaching as well as networking and business development coaching since 1994, both for firm and in-house lawyers.  His in-house clients include CLOs, GCs and their direct reports from Fortune 500 companies to private equity and family-owned companies.  

Stewart designed and led sessions for the first three Women, Influence & Power in Law (WIPL) Conferences, and for numerous other women’s conferences.  For the ACC he has been a career coach at Annual Meetings for several years and has led interactive programs on Executive Presence and Being a Trusted Advisor at Annual Meetings and various regional chapters.  On the topic of Implicit Bias, Stewart presented with Caroline Turner (former GC at Coors, and author of Difference Works) and participated in panels at WIPL, NAWL, and others. 

Early in his career, for 20 years, Stewart practiced law in firms and in-house, including as a fractional GC and/or in-house project lawyer for TJX, Staples, D&B subs, Boston University, Cabot Creamery, Welch’s, Progress Software and others, until 2001, when he pivoted full time to coaching.   In addition to his company Strategic Relationships LLC, Stewart is on the leadership team at Trusted Advisor Associates LLC.
